The winter is really coming upon us here in Norway, it is getting cold and dark. The sun goes down early in the afternoon and then it is dark for about 14 hours. I feel like I really need some sun and light soon.
In these dark, winter times I find myself dreaming about going on vacation to a more sunnier place. I look a lot on sites that offer vacation rentals and try to find my dream spot.
Of course, for me – my favorite vacation rental spot is a sunny place like Florida or California. I visited Florida several years ago, when I was about 8 year old, and I would love to go back with my family sometime.
Where is your favorite vacation spot? Do you like to visit sunny places or are you more fond of winter vacation spots?

Today it is exactly two months left until Christmas Eve. Here in Norway we celebrate christmas on Christmas Eve with a nice dinner followed by opening christmas gifts.
I must admit that I am a little bit concerned this year, mostly because I am unemployed at the moment. We all want to make our kids happy by giving them nice presents for christmas and I hope that this is something I could do this christmas – but that depends on how fast I can get myself a job that pay a proper salary.
This year I need to save money and set money aside for the christmas holiday. I wish I actually saved money for christmas all year but right now we actually have zero reserves.
Of course the most important thing in the two months to come is to keep food on the table and pay all the important bills like heating , mortage, car loan etc. To make sure we have food on the table and get our bills paid in time I need to think of ways to save money – I need to buy on sales and I need to write a budget (can you belive that I never have done that before?)
I might live in Norway – but the financial crice have also reached Norway – no doubt about that. I am glad that we have a good social welfare system – but I will never be able to give my kids that little extra if I keep on beeing unemployed.
I am actually thinking of taking up one of those payday loans it seems like a good way to get through the winter and hopefully I have a job soon so I can pay back the loan as fast as possible.
Do you have any experience with a loan like that?
If you have any good tips on how to save money on everyday expenses I would like to read your opinion.
I know there have been ages since my last post on this blog and I am truly really sorry for that.
The summer was busy – we were going on holiday and redoing our kitchen. The autumn came and we had a lot of birthday parties in our family and of course everyone got sick – and the cold and coughing lasted for weeks.
Now my maternity leave is finally over and I am officially unemployed. I have been applying to different jobs since July and going to a lot of interviews but no luck. Although I live in Norway and we are supposed to be one of the worlds best countries to live in there are still hard to get a job these days…
Cross your fingers for my job hunt!
Just a note to tell you guys that I am still alive. I have not been able to write on my blog for the past few weeks. My days have been absolutely busy with family celebrations, a trip to a castle (oh yes I am going to show you some pictures from that small castle), sick kids and a busy life.
But now I am back – at least I will update on a more frequent base than I have done before.
It is good to be back!
The easter holiday is over for this time and it is another year until next time. We had a great easter holiday at our cabin in the mountains. Too bad that the snow was a little bit too rotten to go skiing on – we all ended up stepping through the snow – even with our skis on. But we had a nice time anyway!
Here are a few pictures from our easter:

This is our cabin – it was a bit foggy the first day when I took this picture. The good thing with fog is that you can get a few great pictures of the nature:

This is the toilet house for our cabin – there are no water at the cabin so we have to go out in this house when we need to go to the toilet. It is ok for a few days but you cannot imagine the great relief to get home to our normal toilet again!

My adorable children loved to stay outside – the baby had to wear sunblock and sunglasses all the time – but look how cute she is in her sunnglases:

And of course my little prince charming had a great time playing with a wizard hat that he found in the cabin:

And here are som pictures of the nature when the weather was great:

This was a little insight in how my easter was – how was your easter?
Just a quick note to let you all that I will be away for some days. We are going on easter holiday to our cabin in the mountains. I hope the weather will be good and that I can share a lot of nice pictures with you when I come home.
I wish you all a great easter!
Just want to share one my favorite song with you guys. Hallelujah is a well known song by Leonard Cohen – I guess it is known all over the world.
I have heard a lot of versions of this song – but I have to say that this version is absolutely the best. It is four norwegian guys singing; Kurt Nilsen, Espen Lind, Alejandro Fuentes and Askil Holm.
Almost all of these four guys are great singers of their own – Kurt Nilsen won the World Idol a few years back, Espen Lind is a well known singer here in Norway, he was very popular in the 90’s, Alejandro Fuentes came second in Norwegian Idol a few years back – and Askil Holm I must say that I am actually not sure of – I had never heard of the guy before he startet singing togheter with the other three.
Kurt Nilsen is my favorite Norwegian song artist. When he entered the Norwegian Idol he took all of Norway with storm – and he surprised all by winning World Idol over Kelly Clarkson. Who would knew that a ordinary plumper with a big gap between his teeths would conquer the world? Well everyone knew immidiately when they heard his voice – as Simon Cowell said: “You look like an hobbit, but sing like an angel”.
Here are a few more of his songs:

Today we went on a 2 hour long stroll along the river in the town I live in. We brought food for the ducks and my little toddler had so much fun feeding the ducks. They were totally crazy and actually came up on the road we were walking on, my husband could actually feed one duck with his hands.
Here are a few picture from today:

Its Friday again (these weeks are going by so fast!) and it is time for another Say it Forward post.
My blog is still new and I still need to build up a decent group of followers – and I hope I will do that during the next few weeks or months. (If you would like to do a link exchange with me I am more than happy to do that – just drop me a note and I’ll add your link – and hope that you will do the same with my link).
This weeks new visitor was Jennifer who has the blog It’s a Beauty Filled Life. She lives in Las Vegas – that is so far away from the life that I have here in Norway. For me Las Vegas is only a place I see on TV – and I would really like to go there one day just to see it by myself. I will for sure love to continue to read her blog and read about her life in Vegas.
